If one word had to describe Susan, it'd be teacher. Bible Book Club exists because of her lifelong love of learning. What started as a small group of young professional women wanting to study a book of the Bible together turned into Susan reading Scripture aloud every morning at 7am, then teaching on it once a week, and eventually, at Heather and Hayley's urging, into a podcast. She's a wife to Mark, mom to five grown kids, grandmother to three, and a full-time marketing and programs officer at Family First (a full life, in other words). Give her any spare moment and she'll spend it pondering something; she's never met a question she didn't want to sit with a little longer.

I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it.

Wife, mom to two teenagers, and an advertising and marketing executive by day, Heather is the other half of the Bible Book Club conversation: the one asking the follow-up question, pushing a little deeper into whatever Susan just said. Long before it was a podcast, Bible Book Club was just Susan reading Scripture aloud to a small group every morning, until Heather looked at what she was doing and said, this is a podcast. That nudge is the reason the show exists today, and Heather's brought the same energy to it ever since. She shows up to record fully put-together, hair, makeup, the works, for a podcast nobody can actually see. And she's never met a stranger: that same warmth, the kind that turns a checkout line into a real conversation, is exactly what makes her such a compelling co-host.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

“As I have journeyed and fumbled my way through motherhood, there are few seasoned moms I have met along the way that I would love to sit for hours over coffee to engage in honest, authentic dialogue about the struggle to do what it takes to be passionate, loving moms. Susan Merrill is one of those rare and real women.”
