Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you've been wondering about the show: Bible translations, extra resources, and how to get involved.

What version of the Bible do we read on the podcast?
We read from the NIV (New International Version): it strikes the balance between accuracy and readability that works best for a chapter-by-chapter deep dive like this one.
Where can I find the extra resources (maps, charts, printables) from the show?
All of our maps, charts, and printables live on the Resources page. New resources are added as each season covers new ground.
Can I be a guest on the podcast?
We love hearing from listeners! Send us a note through the contact form above with a bit about your story or area of expertise, and we'll follow up if it's a fit for an upcoming season.
How do I donate to the podcast?
You can support the show any time on our Donate page. Every gift helps us keep producing new episodes and free resources.
Is Bible Book Club affiliated with a specific church or denomination?
Bible Book Club is an independent podcast. We aim to read Scripture plainly and let it speak for itself, so listeners from any background can follow along week to week.
Where can I listen to Bible Book Club?
Bible Book Club is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, Amazon Music, and anywhere else you get your podcasts.
How long are episodes?
Most episodes run around 30 minutes, short enough for a commute or a coffee break, long enough to really dig into the text.
How often do new episodes come out?
A new episode drops every Monday.
How is each season organized?
Each season works through one book of the Bible chapter by chapter, so you can follow along in your own Bible as you listen.
Do I need to have read the chapter before I listen?
It helps but it isn't required. Susan and Heather walk through the text together, so you can follow along in real time or listen first and read after.
Can I use Bible Book Club for a small group or Bible study?
Absolutely, many of our listeners do exactly this. Each episode's show notes include discussion questions built for group conversation.
Where do I find the discussion questions?
Discussion questions are included in the show notes for every episode, right alongside the audio.
What order should our group listen in?
We recommend listening in season and episode order, since each conversation builds chapter by chapter through the book.
Are there printable resources for group study?
Yes. Maps, charts, and other printables on the Resources page are made to be shared or printed for group use.
Who are Susan and Heather?
Susan Merrill and Heather Rubio are the co-hosts of Bible Book Club. You can read more about their story and how the podcast started on the About page.
Do the hosts have a theology or teaching background?
Susan and Heather approach the text as fellow learners rather than trained theologians, reading Scripture together and sharing what they discover along the way. See the About page for their full story.
Where can I find more from Susan?
Links to more from Susan are available in the footer under "More From Susan."
