Do we have any Leviticus-obsessed listeners out there? I confess, I have never fully studied Leviticus before this season. I wasn’t against the book per se, but you could say I was lost as to how to understand it. Susan and Heather helped me through it, starting with this important beginning episode, the Leviticus Overview, and I can honestly say it doesn’t overwhelm me anymore. Leviticus is simply the laying of the foundation for how the Israelites, a sinful people, can be in the presence of their holy and pure God. It is a crucial building block to the narrative of Moses and the Israelites getting to the promised land.

Leviticus Overview:

HAYLEY’S BIBLE BENDER:

My Bible bender for today was the simplicity at the heart of Leviticus. The heart being the classic verse, Leviticus 19:18, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” I love that at the beginning of this new nation, God made it clear that it all begins and ends in love. Without love, they would fail. I love how that verse is still so true for us as a society today. We need to love our neighbors, strangers and friends alike. We are to shine a light in this world.

What was your Bible bender of the Leviticus Overview? Did you learn anything new?

  • 1 John 4: 9-12
